Olive Grove owned by the Merli Family, Commune of Assisi, Italy.

The space was examined over the space of a single day whilst weather permitted than carried out in a series of visits across late November and Early December 2019. The project was the main output (alongside abstract paintings and drawings) of a month long residency at The Arte Studio Ginistrelle, Assisi. Responses to site were created through examination of the material state of the location, the spatial and rhythmic properties apparent, and the local history of agricultural practices; particularly Olive oil production in the area.

The works were made entirely by hand with only the use of a single basic knife for processing some of the materials. The following arrangements existed for between one hour and 2 weeks, with the site being returned to original condition upon completion of the project; which culminated in a presentation to local Art practitioners and administrators. The pieces have no titles and both existed in an autonomous state and as a part of the ongoing project as a whole.

Main material arrangement – Arundo Donax (semi aquatic perennial). Processed by hand and injected into topsoil across entire grove.

Balance arrangements – deconstructed wine cask.

Stack arrangement. Found wood, limestone, Steel wire.
